We had a thick layer of fog and inversion settle over the valley in early December and stick around for weeks. The sun couldn't get through, and it was bitter cold and dreary. The frost kept building up on the trees and everything else and since the sun couldn't get through to melt it, the frost kept "growing". I remember this happening about 5 years ago, but it hasn't done it this bad since then. The trees are absolutely breathtaking. They look like something out of a fantasy movie. I kept meaning to take my camera into town and take some pictures of the big, sprawling trees covered in a thick layer of icicles because every time I drove past them I gasped at their beauty... but I never did.

My horse and dog and goat all had "frozen fog" on their eyelashes and hair. It really was something to see.

These are my little trees frozen over. I'm sure you can imagine what a full size tree would look like covered in this.

Finally, the week before Christmas we had a storm that blew the inversion and fog away. I was so happy to see the sun again, but I rather miss this ethereal beauty that stuck around for the month of December.
